Our 2015/2016 Retirement and Tax Planning Reference Guide helps financial advisors and investors navigate the ever-changing retirement and tax rules for more constructive financial conversations.
While retirement contribution limits have remained unchanged, OppenheimerFunds has identified some noteworthy changes for 2016. In particular, the Roth IRA phase-out ranges expanded, to $117,000 – $132,000 for single filers and $184,000 – $194,000 for married filers, allowing more households to make a direct contribution. The IRS also issued new rollover rules for SIMPLE IRAs, allowing rollovers into the SIMPLE IRA from other retirement plans after two years. In the past, rollovers into a SIMPLE IRA could only be made from another SIMPLE IRA. It’s important to check with your service provider, as many may be waiting for the IRS to issue an amended IRS Form 5304-SIMPLE.
The guide also helps you calculate Traditional IRA deductions and allowable Roth IRA contributions, as well as how much you’ll pay in Federal income taxes based on your income and filing status. Other tables include:
- Retirement Saver Credits
- Retirement Plan Rollover Chart
- Uniform Life Tables used for calculating Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs)
- Limits on contributions, spending and deductible amounts for Health Saving Accounts (HSAs)
- Eligible Long-Term Care Deductions
- Long-Term Capital Gains and Dividends Tax Rates
- AMT Exemptions and Phase-Outs
